Hailing from the South Bronx, Smooky MarGielaa embodies melodic raps and a crisp sound for New York hip-hop. It’s a gift that’s allowed him to work with the likes of Chris Brown, Juicy J, Diplo, and A$AP Rocky who took him on as a protégé when Smooky was just 13. With his musicality shaped by years of performing with his father (world-renowned Malian musician Abdoulaye Diabaté), Smooky recently lent his pen to the co-writing of “Already,” by Beyoncé, Shatta Wale & Major Lazer—a standout track from Beyoncé’s acclaimed album "The Lion King: The Gift."
His singles like “VLONE Flex” and “Stay 100” have garnered millions of views on YouTube and helped establish his carefree style and unique take on music videos. Fans were introduced to MarGielaa on A$AP Mob’s “Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy” where he’s featured on 4 tracks alongside hip hop heavy hitters Playboi Carti, Lil Yatchy, Schoolboy Q and A$AP Ferg. Since signing to Interscope in 2018, he’s teased loosies like “Flight To Memphis” featuring Juicy J, A$AP Rocky and Chris Brown as well as the relentless track, “The Judge.” He also joined A$AP Rocky on his “Injured Generation” Tour.
Now an independent artist, Smooky is excited to release music on his own schedule and is starting off hot with his latest release, "Mamacita" featuring A$AP Rocky and produced by Hector Delgado.
