Cruising into the summer of 2024 with the same laser-like focus and consistent work-ethic which have kept him at the top of the DJ / producer game for three decades, the good times keep on rolling for Spanish housemaster David Penn.
In April, he reinforced his position as the #1 ranking Beatport House Music Artist of all time (by an unassailable points margin on Beatstats) when ‘Satisfied’, an uplifting, party-starting collaboration with OFFAIAH on Toolroom Records, propelled him back to the summit of the house chart yet again.
With a slew of hot new releases scheduled for the summer ahead, including a huge remix of Our Love (80s) by YOURS, amassive collaboration with Vintage Culture and Raphaella (both on Defected, who celebrate their 25th anniversary this year), as well as a fully cleared house rework of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’ which he made with Mat Joe during lockdown, the road ahead is paved with only the finest dancefloor ammo!
Continuing to tour the globe all year round with the passion and enthusiasm he is best known for, as well as the infectious trademark grin that is now synonymous with his DJ sets, David made more than a dozen Ibiza appearances throughout the summer of 2023 at Eden for Defected, O Beach, Café Mambo and Pacha for Claptone’s Masquerade night, championing his very own reworks of classic Ibiza anthems like ‘The Real Life’ by Raven Maize, ‘I Thought It Was You’ by Sex-o-Sonique and ‘La Mezcla’ by Michel Cleis along the way.
With the 2024 season less than a month old, he has already made appearances at Eden, Café Mambo, O Beach and Ushuaïa with more dates scheduled at all these venues in the weeks ahead. Add Amnesia and Pacha to that list, as well as a long line of worldwide festivals which includes Defected Malta and Defected Croatia and it’s already clear that the year is gearing up to be way bigger than the last!
In addition, 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of David’s Urbana Recordings label (and 600+ radio shows), which he celebrates with a series of digital re-issues and remixes from the likes of Qubiko, The Cube Guys, Jay Vegas andCASSIMM. Boasting 100m+ Spotify streams (40m+ on his hit collaboration ‘Ain’t Go No’ with KPD), 1m+ monthly listeners and almost three decades of musical output under numerous guises (including ‘Sun Rising Up’ by Deux and ‘Night train’ by Kadoc, which sold over two million copies globally) David’s ever-expanding arsenal of standout dancefloor anthems have cemented his position as the most consistently successful house music artist in the world right now.
